Stop trying to take shortcuts in freelancing
It’s supposed to be a long-term business.
I completely understand the need to be financially independent, earn for yourself and your family and start making money as soon as possible.
But it shouldn’t come at the cost of your skills or credibility. I see a lot of freelancers learn from the course and just use whatever they have created first as samples in their portfolio.
Now I want you to pause and think about this. If you were sick and needed an operation, how would you feel if you got a surgeon who has read enough courses and books but thinks he can manage a surgery without practicing?
That’s exactly how our clients would feel.
As a new business owner, often people might have less knowledge and need help. You as a freelancer, and an expert come in here to make things easy for them.
So what can you do?
- Practice as much as you can — As a writer, write. As a social media manager, grow your own page. As a FB ads expert, learn to get results and the best ROAS possible. Be your own scapegoat.
- Create your portfolio like you are building a house — You might like many things, but choose the ones that present you in a better light. Would you choose inferior quality products for your own house? Same way, never choose half-baked, sub-par, average samples in your portfolio.
